Dr. Martinez is originally from Hanover, Pennsylvania. He grew up on a Standardbred horse farm in New Jersey and knew he wanted to become a veterinarian. He graduated from vet school in 2003 and came to Hagyard after riding with Dr. Pumphrey one summer. After that summer, he was hooked! His favorite memories of being a vet include successfully resolving dystocias and watching newborn foals enter the world. His professional interests include work involving the mare, foal and stallion. He also enjoys dentistry, herd health, practice management and business. Outside of work, Dr. Martinez enjoys spending time with his wife and two kids. He is an avid cyclist and also has two whippets named Elliot and Rebel, along with a barn cat named Nemo. He is a morning person but can’t live without a good cup of coffee. One day he hopes to bike ride across the United States.
