Dr. Schalnus is originally from Kremmling, Colorado. In the 6th grade, his love of animals led him to want to become a veterinarian. When he was making the decision of where to practice, Dr. Schalnus thought Hagyard seemed like a good place to work on horses. We sure hope so! His favorite cases revolve around herd health and reproductive success in broodmares. His favorite veterinarian memories are those in which he knows his actions and treatment have saved a life. Outside of work, Dr. Schalnus enjoys cattle ranching, fishing and hunting. He has a cat named Mayhem and his favorite sports team is his daughter's cheerleading team. His current bucket list item is to go fishing in Costa Rica.
